Obviously, Vision is/was a major part of the problems. The
past and present members of the BOD are at fault because of the things they did,
are doing and didn’t do. Shareholders (including you and me) are at fault
for not participating, not paying attention and allowing our problems to
happen.
The current infighting, personal attacks, accusations,
distortions, etc. are making our problems worse, not better. The value of VA
apartments (shares) is falling. And if we don’t fix things, we all suffer. We don't want to become a kakistocracy.
It is possible to disagree without becoming evil, vicious,
nasty, liars, etc. We should all make things better, not worse.
The BOD (Board) should be people who are knowledgeable,
active, willing to learn and volunteer their time and efforts for the benefit
of all Shareholders. The BOD is NOT for personal agendas, therapy, ‘power
trips’ or a social club for people with problems.
Every Shareholder should be fully informed, all our
questions promptly and courteously answered and never never never told, “It is
none of your business”.
Did Ms. Schachter just appoint someone who lives in Atlanta
to the Board? She just appointed a new Management co. and refuses to give us their
name or any information. She is using Shareholder money for a “Meet and Greet”
party. She advertises she is going use
our money to serve “Wine and Cheese” at a party. Forgive offensive language but since she is
‘pissing away’ our money, serving urine and cheese would be more appropriate.
The people who control Valerie Arms (VA) are the BOD (Board
of Directors). Who controls them? The BOD controls and is responsible for
Management, employees, lawyers, contractors, etc. These people control your
homes and investments. We MUST do a lot better.

I am not a lawyer, or a former Board Member and have only spoken
with a handful of people involved. I am a Shareholder like you. And being a
‘concerned’ Shareholder does not make me a "coward". Calling people names is not
nice.
Jill kept repeating the blog is ‘disgusting’. The comments
posted by Shareholders are ‘disgusting’. This blog is to inform and alert. It
is not restricted. It is not ‘disgusting’. Shareholders are not ‘disgusting’.
‘Disgusting’ is telling Shareholders, “It is none of your
business”.
Bottom line: I/we believe the BOD needs
improvement/replacing. I/we strongly suspect VA’s financial condition is not
good. How bad? VERY BAD! The BOD and Vision do not answer our questions. Jill states “It is none of
your (our) business”. The BOD is spending our money without our knowledge
and/or consent.
Action: Our money is being taken and spent without our
knowledge and/or consent. To the best of our knowledge, the BOD authorizes
payments and Vision issues the payments. Shareholders want this to stop. Tell the BOD, the Attorney, Vision and your fellow Shareholders.
Personality or emotional conflicts should not affect Shareholder welfare.
All involved should be nice, polite and work for Shareholder welfare.

ReplyDeleteJust received confirmation that Jill Schachter and her Board of Directors are either insane or think shareholders at the Valerie are stupid.
Am reading the five page screed directed at two shareholders who apparently asked questions about the Coop's finances and why four of the five board members were appointed after everyone else who tried to work with Jill Schachter resigned.
According to the Board, Maggie Warford ("Maggie from Atlanta" who moved out of the Valerie 20+ years ago) and Alicia Speigel were elected to the BOD even though they lost the election! (John McCain will be President if something happens to Obama? He was the First Runner Up!) Maggie From Atlanta and Treasurer Speigel ran for the Board and LOST. They were elected by one person and one person only -- Jill Schachter
The Board also explains that the "Staff Lounge" is where we can go in an emergency to find the people who are supposed to be working for us lounging around instead of being at their posts doing their job. Somehow this is supposed to be a plus for shareholders.
Fascinating passage in the letter also reveals that the Board TOLD HERCULES ABOUT THE ECB VIOLATIONS, WHEN THEY DIDN'T BOTHER TO TELL SHAREHOLDERS. The Board still hasn't fessed up to the fines we paid this week.
Still trying to figure out who Barry Campbell is and when Jill Schachter appointed him to the BOD.
Finally, the shareholder meeting is June 19. The Little Neck Jewish Center has confirmed the date. Why won't the BOD confirm the date? Are they planning on canceling the meeting if they haven't squeezed enough shareholders for proxies?

Everyone resigned pushing her up to Pres., which Harvey and Bob are to blame. The others were LOSERS. No runner's up, this is not the Miss America pageant. These are Jill Scahchter's FRIENDS, that's why they are on the board, they are as brainless and psycho as she is.

A new BOD will be elcted and EVERYONE goes-lawyers, accountants, security guards etc. As far as Mesos showing up at meetings-how the hell can he hold his head up? One more thing-the BALLOTS MUST BE MONITORED, there will be scamming going on with votes, there must be several witness's!
I would have to agree that insanity or lack of respect towards shareholders is the Board's problem. The Board could not have been more offensive in their response to the two shareholders. The letter was condesending to say the least. I continue to be offended be each letter from the Board. An agenda is evident. As an older shareholder who does not usually attend the meetings I am afraid they will try to get me to give them my proxy. Has this happened already to others?
ReplyDeleteDo not be afraid of anyone in the building. If you are unable to attend, then find a friend that you can honestly trust and give your proxy to them. You have the right to attend the meeting and vote yourself. We are asking all shareholders to attend the meeting. Try to attend. It is important. It is your money the BOD is spending.

DeleteEvery shareholder should be very worried about Jill Schachter's plans to have a wine and cheese party at the "pool and sun club".
ReplyDeleteTo have the Coop provide alcohol at an event like this puts us all at risk. If anyone who "we" serve wine to trips and falls, who do you think they will sue? If anyone has a couple of glasses of wine and drives their car into a tree, who do you think they will sue?
When the Coop gets sued for something like this, we are all at risk of being held responsible.
Jill Schachter and her Board are playing Russian Roulette with our money so that they can make campaign promises of a "fun" season for all of their friends at the pool.
Half of the building faces the pool - I wonder how many will be forced to complain to Community Board 11 about the noise of "game night", the "whine and cheese party" etc. Most likely these events will be held nights and weekends depriving shareholders and tenants of the quiet enjoyment of their apartments. I don't think the board has an in at the Community Board (who by the way is the agency that grants the liquor licenses in the area).

All members except for you ( we all know ow you got on the board) were appointed to the bod by you not the shareholders (let's gets this straight). When are you going to get your stories straight? The letter from the Board yesterday was an interesting attempt to rewrite history. It reminded me of another administration. Get ready for the next press conference. We will learn that Glen Oaks Village has planned to assassinate Jill's father and that we must go to war with them. Then a Board Member will stand up before a group of Cooperatives to justify the strike. I guess Jack and Mario will be Jill's soldiers for the war. And I use the word "soldiers" very loosely since I would not want to insult any true warriors who I actually have a great deal of respect for.
ReplyDeleteWith respect to other interesting parts of that rude and disrespectful response to a shareholder, I find it disconcerting that these people are controlling our money. When I was obtaining my degree in Political Science I do not recall ever learning that an election's loser (or Runner-Up as the Board calls them) is actually elected when the Board decides to appoint them. It is a pathetic attempt to justify appointing people who will do her bidding.
I would also like the Board to show evidence of this claimed harassment at their work places. I know that I sent several letters to the Board asking for action. I followed their protocol and sent them to Vision. However, knowing that Vision is what it is, I then copied several of the letters to the Board by electronic mail. In the letters I specifically stated that the reason I was sending them to the Board in that manner also was because I was afraid that Vision was not forwarding my requests to them. The response was a vicious attack that was completely improper and out of proportion given my legitimate concerns. If anyone would like to see my letters and Jill Schachter's rude and disrespectful responses I will gladly provide them to you. I sent an email to the blog moderator so he will know where to direct you to.

Jill has had and will always have a personal vendetta against Marc and Ellen. She has clearly stated that to many shareholders and of course made it very clear in her letters.

ReplyDeleteBoard of Directors just posted another vicious attack on Marc Ullman and Ellen Vestrich by the mailboxes on the 40 side of the Valerie. Why the limited distribution? Afraid of lawsuits? Beach of Fiduciary Duties? Personal liability? Remember the letter we received from Marc Ullman with the lawyer's warnings?
Proof that BOD is ignorant/stupid/corrupt or all three: BOD remains obsessed/distraught over Vision Management's decision to cut and run. Claims that no other Management Company can get us discounts on electric rates, good insurance policies or tax lawyers. Not hiring a new Management Company that can do these things = proof of incompetence/breach of fiduciary duties. (Jill to shareholders: "None of your business who we hired")
Loss of Vision Management was a "FAMILY AFFAIR" for Jill Schachter. Barry Nelson, Maggie from Atlanta and all you other flunkies: WHAT'S YOUR EXCUSE?

ReplyDeleteThe job of a Management Company is to manage our money and our property. When it became apparent to me exactly how badly Vision Management was failing on both points I sought to replace Vision. Jill Schachter has been on a rampage ever since.
When our former lawyer and accountant attempted to address these failures, they were terminated. Please read the letters from these two professionals that were sent to you.
Jill Schachter, Barry Nelson, Alicia Speigel, Fran Rothkin and Maggie Seminara Warford (AKA "Maggie from Atlanta") do not like to discuss Vision's failures. Instead they chose to lament that hiring a new management company will cost us more money.
If you consider that Vision and Peter Mesos will no longer be in a position to:
control all of our assets;
charge us for renovations on sponsor-owned apartments;
force our staff to work on sponsor-owned apartments instead of doing their jobs for us;
short us on parking lot charges;
use Peter Mesos' friends and relatives as "service" providers;
and take whatever else they want from us --
Maybe we'll actually come out ahead.
It's also worth noting that the Board posted in very large, bold, type that a new management company will cost us $20,000 more per year. But when one breaks down the math:
ReplyDelete20,000 per year divided by 252 apartments = 80 dollars per apartment per year (i realize that different apartments are weighted differently for share ownership..catch the point)
$80/apt/year divided by 12 months = approx. $7 per month
If I have to pay $7 per month extra to have a management company that I can depend on, who is willing to sign a contract, and actually answer when questions are asked, I'll be happy to pay.
Level, you hit the proverbial nail right on the head. $7.00 per apartment per month is more than worth it to have our money and finances properly managed. Marc Ullman's ousting of Vision was the best thing that could have happened. I am surprised this Board is not taking credit for it.

TO CHRIST WAS OURS FIRST - 3 weeks is only 15 business days. Vision Management may have not passed along the message. In our age of technology, they need a minimum of 30 business days to respond.
